An Essay on India


India is an incredible country that is known for its unity in diversity. Diversity is so-called because; there are various castes, creeds, cultures, religions, and traditions.

There are different languages that vary from state to state and also different foods are found in different states. There is diversity in festivals but people celebrate all the festivals with great joy, harmony, and fraternity.

Despite various languages, Hindi is recognized as the national language and is spoken all around the country.

Our India

India is also known by some other names such as Aaryavart, Bharat, Hindustan, and the people of India are called Indian. New Delhi is the capital of India and Mumbai city is its business capital. The currency of India is the rupee.

Our country is known for its abundant nature of beautiful lands and civilization cultures.

India is known as a country of farmers and sages. It is a land of villages. The main occupation of India is agriculture. About 60 percent of people are involved in farming.

It is the 7th largest country by area and the second-most populous country in the world after China.

Today, our country is developing rapidly and has become the fastest-growing economic country in the world which in the future may lead to Vishwaguru amongst the whole world. We are proud to be Indian.

Geographical figures of India

India is situated in Southern Asia. It is located in the northern hemisphere. Its length is 3214 km from north to south and its breadth is 2933 km from east to west. The total areas are 32, 87,263 square kilometers.

It has a land frontier of 15106.7 Km and a coastline of 7516.6 Km. It is surrounded by three sides of oceans namely, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, and the Indian Ocean on the south.

It is the only country in the world that is named after an ocean called the Indian Ocean.

It shares land borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan in the northwest; China, Nepal, and Bhutan in the north; Bangladesh, and Myanmar in the east.

There are 29 states and eight union territories in India which included Ladakh in Oct. 2019. Rajasthan is the largest state by area and Goa is the smallest state in India. Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep are the two islands of it.

The tropic of cancers passes through eight states of India, they are namely Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, and Mizoram

India has huge land of diversity with mountains, plateaus, plains, delta, deserts, rivers, and seas. The names of the rivers are Ganga, Yamuna, Sindhu, Brahmaputra, Krishna, Kaberi, Damodar, Narmada, and others.

There is a famous Himalayan mountain that covers 2400 Kilometers and crosses five-country of India, Nepal, Bhutan, China, and Pakistan.

Nature and temperature are different. In the hilly area, the temperature is low, in the desert temperatures are high, and in the plateau, plane, and seashore areas, the temperature is pleasant.

History of India

Our country India was under British rule till 1947. It became independent on 15th August 1947. Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August every year. The Constitution of India was imposed on 26th January 1950. Thus, republic day is celebrated every year on the 26th of January.

But to make free from the British government was not so easy. Countless freedom fighter sacrificed their life for the freedom of our country.

Some of the prominent freedom fighters namely Mangal Pandey, Jhansi ki Rani, Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Bahadur Shah Jafar, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Chandrashekhar Azad, Khudiram Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many others who all gave their whole life for the service of the nation.

We must pay tribute to their great sacrifices for the country that we live in today as free.

Incredible India

Our flag

The shape of the national flag is horizontal and it has a tricolor. So, its name is the tricolor flag. The first color is in deep saffron(Kesari) which is the uppermost of the flag. It signifies the strength, courage, and sacrifice of the country.

The second color which is in the middle of the flag is white in color. It reminds us to be truthful, honest, and peaceful.

The third color that is the lowest color in the flag is dark green which describes the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of our lands.

The white color that is in the middle of the flag has an Ashoka chakra of navy blue color on it. This Ashoka chakra contains 24 spokes that are equally spaced. These 24 spokes are the symbol of the movement of time which is also known as Samay chakra.

It signifies that India should not resist the changes and always be on the path of progress. It tells us to do the right things always and become better and better in person every day.

Our national symbol

India is known as vast a democratic country. The tricoloris our National flag. “Jana Gana Mana” is the national anthem and “Vande Mataram” is the national song.

The national animal of India is Royal Bengal Tiger, Peacock is our national bird, Ganga is the national river, the national fruit is the Mango, Baragad is the national tree, Lotus is the national flower, Hockey is the national sport, and Jalebi is the national sweet.

Incarnation of God

It is that land where Lord Vishnu incarnated to kill demons and be free from evil. Lord Krishna, Rama, Parashurama, etc. were the incarnation of Lord Vishnu as per Hindu beliefs. Mahabharata and Ramayan are two influential epics of Hindu mythology.

Land of bravery
India has been the land of brave kings and queens who are still recognized for their courage and valor. They fought with alien power to save their kingdom and self-respect.

Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Sivaji, Prithvi Raj Chouhan, Tipu Sultan, Porus, Chandragupta Maurya, the Rani of Jhansi, Rani Padmavati, Yashwant Rao Holkar, and other more was the great king in the history of India.

Great Indian sages

Our country has been the land of sages and is still today. Today technologies are advanced and it is the world of science. Discoveries are nothing but the re-inventions which are based on the knowledge of our great Sages possessed long ago.

India has made many valuable contributions to the world. Centuries ago Indian sages had vast bits of knowledge that many modern scientists lack.

Many sages such as Aryabhatta, Bhaskryacharya, Maharshi Bhardwaj, Acharya Charaka, Vishwa Mitra, Maharshi Valmiki, Kapila, Sushruta, etc.

In the field of literature, spirituality, and science, our nation has produced many prominent personalities such as Rabindranath Tagore, Munshi Prema Chandra, Sara Chandra, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Swami Vivekananda, C.V Raman, Jagadish Chandra Bose, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Their great works for the country inspire us which makes me proud of my country.

Unity in diversity

India is rich in dialects and languages where twenty-two languages constitutionally enjoy official language status. But Hindi is a national language that is spoken by people throughout the country.

Here different religions of people are assimilative in nature. There is diversity in Indian culture. Indian culture is the oldest culture in the world. Different religions such as Hinduism, Muslim, Sikhism, Christianity, and other religions of people live together from ancient times.

Gita, Kuran, and the Bible are the holy Scriptures of different religions.

India is rich in monuments, tombs, churches, temples, museums, historical places, wildlife sanctuaries, and many more.

The Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World which was made by King Shah Jahan.

It is situated in Agra. There are many heritages situated in India like Jantar Mantar, Agra Fort, Khajuraho temple, Ajanta, Ellora, Chola temple, etc.

Ajanta is a rock-cut Buddhist cave monument and the Ellora caves; the sun temple area a wonderful example of Indian-rock-cut architecture.

People of the different states are called Bihari, Panjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Kashmiri but they are proud to say that they are Indian.

It is the only India where people of the Hindu religion not only worship Gods but also worship trees, rivers, and cows animals. In India, people worship many Gods on behalf of their beliefs.

People belonging to different religions celebrate festivals with peace and harmony. We have many festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Chhath, Dussehra,, Eid-ul -Fitr, and many more.

We have a lot of diversity in festivals, yet we have the same spirit, an Indian which crosses all parts of our country and binds us all together. It shows great unity in diversity.
