Independence Day speech in English
Let’s start the Independence Day speech…
Good morning to all of you. A very warm welcome to everyone who presents here to celebrate this auspicious day. Before starting my speech, let me wish you all a very Independence Day. We are here today to celebrate this auspicious day.
We celebrate Independence Day on 15th August every year. This day commemorates the sacrifice of our ancestors for making our nation free from British rule.
Today, we can hoist our tricolor flag easily, but our country has a vast history behind it. Our ancestors struggle and sacrifice their life for our nation until their last breath.
It is well known to us that our country was under the British Government for about 200 years. Before that, there were full resources of minerals in India. India was known as the leading spice market in the world. India was called the golden bird.
These all attracted the British. Firstly they came here for the purpose of business namely East India Company. Gradually they manipulated the people of India. They applied different policies here. After the British government captured the whole of India and India became a slave country for the British government.
All citizens of India were slaves of the British. British government treated Indians like slaves. They tortured them physically and mentally. They destroyed our resources. They used their power and grabbed the lands of our farmers. At that time Indian people had no rights that we have today.
But it is said that there is always dominance of good over evil. All Indians started to know their right and became aware of their freedom. Many revolutionaries were born to make our country free. Finally, with the help of our great freedom fighters, our nation got independence on August 15, 1947.
To honor this; we celebrate 15 August as Independence Day.
Furthermore, it is our forefathers who taught us to live to unite in-country and gave us a land of peace. We should remember our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrasekhar Azad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many other renowned freedom fighters who devoted their whole life to the service of our nation.
On 15th August 1947, the nation celebrated its first independence day. It was a day of rejoicing and pride. Our first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the national flag from the ramparts of the red fort in Delhi.
That was the day of a new era of liberty. It was a day of the promise of progress and prosperity for the nation. Independence Day since then has been celebrated every year all over the country.
Almost every institutions, schools, office, and college celebrate the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Independence Day reminds us of the dedication, suffering, and struggle of our freedom fighters and leaders who gave India freedom. This day gives us the privilege of freedom, education, speech, and many more.
These are valuable gifts for us from our martyrs. On this day we forget our differences and unite as one true nation. It is a time for us to be self-reliant and hopes for a better future for our country.
Today our democratic country is growing rapidly and counts as one of the largest democratic countries in the world. Our country is growing on the path of Vishwa Guru.
We are one of the most emerging economies in the world and developing rapidly in the field of technology, education, sports, and many others, which could not be possible without the sacrifice of our freedom fighters.
This day should not be just a ritual day, but we should think of the poor who are still not free from Poverty, Hunger, and Slavery. Their basic educations are still far away. Freedom means not only for an individual. It is the right of every citizen of the country to live free from poverty, hunger, and slavery.
With the Synergy of government and NGO, every citizen of our country who lives in prosperous life should come forward to help needy people. They should be given free education. Education is the main cause through which we can eradicate poverty and other social evils.
On this day we remember the significant contribution of our revolutionists who sacrificed everything of their own life. Their vision at that time was to make liberty of our country. Their great efforts and willpower made them sacrifice their life for the country.
Now, it is our duty to protect the freedom of the country. Today our country is not free from poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and other social evils. We must do some significant work the prevention these evils. We should have to develop our society and make our country truly democratic.
What we are now and what we have till now are all given by our great freedom fighters. Now we have to ask ourselves what we are going to give to the coming generation.
Now I would like to finish my speech. Again, I would like to say we must be proud to be Indian.
Thank you
Bharat Mata ki Jai
Jai Hind
Jai Bharat.
